Three Day Photography, Art Exhibit Ends at PNCA

As part of the International Tourism Day, a three-day photography exhibition has come to an end at the Pakistan National Arts Council (PNCA).

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – September 28, 2022): As part of International Tourism Day, a three-day photography exhibition has come to an end at the Pakistan National Arts Council (PNCA).

A colorful prize distribution ceremony took place at the end of the exhibition, during which a total of six cash prizes were given to the winners of the painting competition.

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) organized the expo in collaboration with Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP), UNESCO Islamabad, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), PNCA and Serena Hotels.

Rohtas Fort Heritage Paintings and Handicrafts Exhibition – a UNESCO World Heritage Site was on going.

Artworks showcasing the collection of no less than 13 talented artists from across the country were exhibited with oil, acrylic and watercolor mediums to promote sustainable and responsible tourism at Rohtas Fort .

The Sustainable Tourism Foundation Pakistan (STFP) with support from AICS and technical assistance from UNESCO Islamabad in collaboration with Directorate General of Archeology Punjab has conducted a series of interventions to engage the local community living around the fort of Rohtas in the safeguarding of cultural heritage between 2020 and 2021.

This included training tour guides and creating a social enterprise to create handmade souvenirs.

Following the successful conclusion of these interventions, STFP developed an innovative strategy to increase the sustainability of social enterprise. 13 talented artists from all over Pakistan were invited for a three-day painting trip to Rohtas Fort. The artists took part in guided tours, taught basic painting techniques to local school children and created paintings live on site. The artists also worked with STFP to promote sustainable and responsible tourism at the World Heritage site.

The winners were Ilyas Allaah Buksh, Yawer Talib, Amjad Imdad Rashdi, Abdul Baqi, Altaf Noori, Zulfiqar Ali, Muzamil Hussain Toori, Asif Hussain and Shahbaz Ahmed.
